What Patients Ask Before Booking Their First Knee Visit with Us.

Can you help if I have knee arthritis?
Yes. We work with arthritis patients on pain, motion and activity using conservative care, and care is tailored to how advanced the arthritis is. Arthritis pain is influenced as much by weakness, mechanics and inflammation as it is by the joint itself. Addressing those factors can help reduce pain and improve function for many patients. Treatment recommendations depend on your individual condition.
Do I need an MRI before I come in?
No. We start with a full exam and only order imaging when it will change your plan. If you already have imaging, bring it along. Ordering imaging you don't need is expensive and rarely changes the plan. When advanced imaging is warranted, we coordinate it with local imaging centers and typically have results reviewed within a day or two, so care isn't delayed.
Do you adjust the knee?
Yes, gentle joint mobilization of the knee, hip and ankle is often part of care, paired with soft-tissue work and targeted rehab. Manual work on the knee, hip and ankle helps the whole leg move better. If you'd rather not be manually adjusted at all, we can rely on rehab, soft-tissue therapy and instrument-assisted techniques instead.
How long until I feel better?
Most patients feel meaningful relief within the first few visits. A clear timeline and endpoint are part of your report of findings. Sharp pain usually calms first, then swelling, then the deeper mechanical issues driving the problem. Your plan is re-evaluated at set milestones so progress is measured, not guessed.
Do I need a referral?
Many patients can begin care without a referral. Referral and authorization requirements can vary by service and insurance plan, so our team will verify any applicable requirements before care begins. Illinois is a direct-access state, so you can start care with us the same week without waiting on paperwork from another provider. If you'd like your primary care doctor kept in the loop, we're happy to send updates on your progress.
