Can chiropractic really help migraines?
Yes, for many patients. Some research suggests manual therapy may benefit certain headache types, particularly where the cervical spine is involved. A large portion of chronic headache patients have a cervical (neck-driven) component that never gets fully addressed by medication alone. When that component is addressed, some patients report improvement in headache frequency or intensity. Results vary by individual.
Will I be cracked in the neck?
Only when it's appropriate and you're comfortable with it. We offer gentle, low-force upper-cervical techniques when traditional adjustments aren't a fit. If manual upper-cervical work isn't for you, we can rely on gentle instrument-assisted techniques, soft-tissue therapy and rehab instead - the goal is the outcome, not any single technique.
How long until my headaches improve?
Many patients notice fewer or less intense headaches within the first few weeks of care. Your report of findings includes a clear timeline and endpoint. Frequency usually drops first, then intensity, then duration. Your plan is re-evaluated at set milestones so you can see the pattern shift in real numbers, not just impressions.
Do I need to stop my migraine medication?
No. We work alongside whatever your primary care provider or neurologist has you on. Medication decisions stay with your prescribing physician.
Do I need a referral?
Many patients can begin care without a referral. Referral and authorization requirements can vary by service and insurance plan, so our team will verify any applicable requirements before care begins. Illinois is a direct-access state, so you can start care with us the same week without waiting on paperwork from another provider.
